I moved to the village over 20 years, returning here from London with my husband who was 7 years old when he first moved here. I love living and being part of the community. When I first moved to my current house in Oldway I got involved with the local amateur dramatics group, BATS, and still help in their front of house team during their performances. I also helped to set up a Rainbows group in Providence hall for girls aged 4-7 and was involved with this for over 5 years organising weekly fun activities.
My daughter attends Bishopston Primary school and I am currently very involved with the school’s PTA. My friend and I became co-chairs of the school’s PTA over 4 years ago and I thoroughly enjoy working with the team of parents to organise events to raise money for the school. For the last 3 years I have been pivotal in organising the lantern parade that has now become a thoroughly enjoyable annual event. The PTA have organised Eater hunt competitions around the village and have had stalls at the May day and Coronation events over the years. I feel I could be a valuable link between the school and the council. During lockdown I volunteered to help out with deliveries for Grub club. I found this such a rewarding weekly thing and meet many of the current community councillors during this time.
